Black Doctors Consortium

The Black Doctors Consortium, founded by Dr. Ala Stanford, provides COVID-19 testing and healthcare services to underserved communities in Philadelphia during the height of the pandemic. Composed of doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, the consortium seeks to address health disparities and promote health equity. Its community-centered approach has gained widespread recognition in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. From the consortium, a center for health equity was created. See more below.

Its mission is simple. Education and Advocacy for African Americans to reduce the incidence of disease and death from coronavirus. African Americans are being diagnosed at a disproportionately higher rate than other groups and are dying from coronavirus at a higher rate than other groups. To address that need, the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium was born.

Department of Health & Human Services Director

President Joe Biden announced on April 26, 2022, that he appointed Dr. Ala Stanford as an HHS Regional Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region. This is one of the key regional leadership roles at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that works toward the health and wellbeing of all Americans.

Dr. Stanford will oversee federal health programs and initiatives in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington D.C. Some of these programs and initiatives include Medicare, Medicaid, public health, emergency preparedness and response, substance abuse and mental health services, children and family services, and health equity.

Center for Health Equity

The Dr. Ala Stanford Center for Health Equity is a medical center in Philadelphia established by Dr. Ala Stanford and the Black Doctors Consortium. The center offers various health services, such as phlebotomy, EKGs and mammography, behavioral health, and well check-ups for children and adults in a welcoming, family-friendly environment. The clinic also offers standard immunizations and vaccines. There are eight exam rooms and three private behavioral health spaces.

The Center for Health Equity also collaborates with local organizations and institutions to address social determinants of health and provide access to resources for marginalized communities.

R.E.A.L. Concierge Medicine
