Doctor Ala Stanford Advocates for Better Healthcare
Black Doctors Consortium
The Black Doctors Consortium, founded by Dr. Ala Stanford, provides COVID-19 testing and healthcare services to underserved communities in Philadelphia during the height of the pandemic. Composed of doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, the consortium seeks to address health disparities and promote health equity. Its community-centered approach has gained widespread recognition in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. From the consortium, a center for health equity was created. See more below.
Its mission is simple. Education and Advocacy for African Americans to reduce the incidence of disease and death from coronavirus. African Americans are being diagnosed at a disproportionately higher rate than other groups and are dying from coronavirus at a higher rate than other groups. To address that need, the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium was born.
